Reading and Responding to Other Students' Posts

Dear Students:

To be a good blogger, one must read other people's blogs. In the 2 OT Professional Writing Classes, we have 49 students writing about various areas of OT as well as a variety of therapies. As another way of broadening your knowledge base of the OT field, I would like for you to peruse postings made by your OT peers.

For your week 3 posting, I would like for you to read two or more of your classmates (either class) blogs. Give a brief synopsis of these other people's blog postings and what you learned from their postings. You may quote from the person's blog and or from the source they used to write their blog. Do not forget to cite your source if you quote either the person or their blog's source.

The blog posting is due Friday, Nov 6 by 10 AM.

PS- Remember to proofread your blogs before posting.

Happy Blogging!

Using Reputable Sources in Blogs

Dear Students:

For this week, I would like for you to find a reputable source (journal article, newspaper article, book chapter) that discusses the area of OT you are writing about in your blog. Give a brief synopsis of the article/ chapter (5-7 sentences). Next, explain how the article pertains to your chosen area and provide your thoughts about the article ( 4-6 sentences). The blog posting is due Friday, Oct 23 by 10 AM.

Include a full APA citation for the article/ chapter following your posting.

PS- Remember to proofread your blogs before posting.

First Blog Post

ENGL 4000- 05 and 06

Dear Students:

I have posted all of the blog URLs  for 4000-05 and 06 on the initial post for this blog. As of now, the best way to access your blog or another person's blog is to (1) copy and paste the URL onto a google search bar or (2) highlight the URL and right click on the mouse and select open link.

***Your first blog post will be due on Friday, October 9 by 10 AM.

As you begin you blogging experience for this class, remember to create sites that are appealing in their use of backgrounds and visuals. Strive to use informative, clear, concise writing as this is a professional writing course. Furthermore, check each post for punctuation and grammatical errors prior to posting. Make sure that you continue to include a reference to an outside source in each post and seek out topics that are of interest to you and others in your chosen career.

For this first blog post, I would like for you to write about the topic you have chosen for your blog. In your post include:

1) Reasons for why you chose to blog about this aspect of OT
2) Experience and /or knowledge you have within this area ( but not necessarily in OT)  - For example, your blog topic may be "Cooking and OT" and your experience is with love of baking or culinary classes. Or you may be writing about Pediatric OT and you have worked at a summer camp with kids.
3) What you hope to learn or teach others about this topic through blogging
4) Reference an outside source or another blog in your post

Happy Blogging!
